Zman Soft Plastics - Estuary Edition

Zman _ Soft Plastics _ Tackle Review

LAND-BASED BREAM-IN' _ ZMAN SHRIMPZ _ HOUDINI

INTRO

Fishing the estuaries can be fairly complex at times however the main objective that i keep close to hand is the nature of my tackle. Obviously a lure that markets itself as being 10X times more tougher and durable than the competition is a piece of terminal tackle that i certainly need in my arsenal. The Z man's come in a range of colours and presentation's however the selection which we find most useful would have to be the 2.5" Grubz and the 3" Shrimpz Range. Below is a quick article which refers to our Land-based Encounters

TACKLE

Whilst Soft Plastics have been around for a while now it is a necessity to fish them with quality tackle. This allows you to effectively feel all the way down the line to where the lure is! A Graphite rod of sorts is a must in my eyes as it not only allows you to feel a lot more but it allows you to effectively load up on a fish and set the hook adequately for the duration of the fight. A small to medium sized reel (1000-3000) holds enough line whilst securing enough drag to cater to any species which you may come across in the estuaries. An added benefit would also have to either be braid or straight through fluorocarbon and again it reinforces the quality aspect of feeling pretty much every single tap! The theme being this sections is "Quality", this also stems to your terminal tackle which includes jig head in this instance. Personally the Anglers Edge Crew tend to stick to the TT Jig heads which have proved their worth through countless hours of tackle testing :))

 SPECIES

Every Fisherman's Objective before the start of a Session is to Capture and in some instances release as many fish as possible. Our Land based and Boat encounters have seen us come across a fair few species in the estuaries. We have Capture and Released everything from Salmon to Bream! It is however the thrill that we feel when we prospect a Fishy Looking Spot for the first time. It is effectively the sense of the unknown and the sensation of not knowing what will grab your Lure next :))

RETRIEVAL

Every single day will hold different opportunities which may need the angler himself to cater to a fishes liking. It may be as simple as changing up your retrieve or even stepping down in a leader size. The two main retrieves which we found most effective would have to be a "quick retrieve with a sudden pause", this seems to excite Flathead mainly but it also has its days on bream. This technique will get the tails on the Grubz really going! The Second retrieve which we look to employ for a Breaming Context would have to be the classic 2 rod twitches and a pause. This allows the plastic to swim off the bottom like a bait-fish and then flutter down eventually resting on the bottom once again. "The Zman Lures also hold their buoyancy fairly well so even when the lures is sitting on the bottom doing nothing the actual tail section of the plastic is fluttering around serving the purpose of an added attractant".  These retrieval methods provide you with a basic overview in regards to getting these lures working to their full potential and effectively catching you more fish !

TIP: "IF U STUDY THE PLASTIC AND WORK OUT WHERE MOST OF THE MOVEMENT COMES FROM, IT WILL PAY DIVIDENDS IN YOUR SUCCESSES"

 LOCATION

The Key word which describes our efforts whilst utilizing the Zman Soft Plastics is "PROSPECTING". Walking your local bank or having a flick at a local wharf will allow you to obtain the full potential of these lures. A Great colour Range allows you to mimic every bait-fish under the sun which in tend allows you to target a range of species. We would like to reinforce the fact that these lures can be used by any person at any time. "It is typically a matter of getting out there and having a flick" :))

CONCLUSION

As a summarizing statement I would say that these lures are an essential component in everyone's tackle arsenal. If it's fishing from the boat or having a flick from a land-based context it is sure that these lures will cater to your efforts. Subduing everything from the Smallest of Bream to Quality Jew-fish it is a lures which will prove its worth. Soooooo............get out there guys and enjoy the Water! TIGHT LINES GUYS
