GANCRAFT SQUID JIGS

Gan Craft Squid Jigs _ Tackle Review

A CRACKER CALAMARI - GAN-CRAFT JIGS

INTRO

If there is any sort of fishing which is totally unpredictable it must be "Squid Fishing"! The overall behaviour of these Cephlapods is one which many are intrigued by but it is also something which we know very little of. The tackle base in regrads to Squid fishing has grown from something of very little to a multi million dollar sector which many fisherman spend thousands of dollars targeting. This article will take you through a brief which assesses the unique nature of the Gan Craft Jigs which are especially designed by Australian fisherman for Australian conditions! These Jigs are effectively faultless with there high quality Japanese component's! :))

SMALL SELECTION OF GANCRAFT JIGS - CRAFTED DIRECTLY TOWARDS AUSTRALIAN CONDITIONS :))

TACKLE

The principle of Egi Fishing is to effectively entice a Squid to strike at a bait looking impersonation! The Gan Craft Jigs accommodate to a variety of situations which may include factors like water depth, current, weather and overall condition's. The reel and rod in these instances would consist of a very light modulus blank which u want to be soft in the tip section but still have enough backbone to control a large squid under full fight. The standard reel size would therefore consist of anything between a 2500-4000 size with a rod to match in between 4-12lb and fairly long in nature (7' to 8'). Line plays a important factor as well so stick to wither a thin mono or a braid which will get all the needed action going through your lure! Just remember guys these are guidelines which people may stray from as to accommodate your personal situation :))

RETRIEVAL

KINGY AND JEWIE CANDY
The Art of Egi Fishing is a fairly diverse one but it is one which can be altered from person to person. Everything from the most erratic action to the most subtlest action can be employed as a matter of enticing these inquisitive squid! If your either fishing out of the boat or landbased it is a matter of getting the lure as far away from you as possible. You drag should fairly loose but not too tight, this is a median point which you as a angler should find through experience! The key is that you want to give the Squid enough room to peel drag without over tightening your drag and ripping it straight out of its grasp. Personally i tend to stick to either a 2 or 3 jerk which enables the jig to get far enough off the bottom and effectively attract any nearby Squid. The actual hookup will nearly always happen when the jig is dropping back to the bottom so keep this in mind when choosing your jigs as you want the jig to stay in the bite zone for as long as possible!

PS; KEEP THAT JIG IN THE STRIKE ZONE FOR AS LOOOONG AS POSSIBLE!

NICE RESULT FOR A COUPLE HOURS OFF THE ROCKS _ LANDBASING

LOCATION

In regards to finding Squid it is a mere scenario of finding kelp or sea grass which will effectively harbour these smart predators. Squid will hold fairly close to the bottom so a tip that i would give every individual targeting Squid for the first time would be "IF YOUR NOT HOOKING THE KELP OR BOTTOM FROM TIME TO TIME YOUR NOT IN THE STRIKE ZONE"!.

Zman Soft Plastics - Estuary Edition

Zman _ Soft Plastics _ Tackle Review

LAND-BASED BREAM-IN' _ ZMAN SHRIMPZ _ HOUDINI

INTRO

Fishing the estuaries can be fairly complex at times however the main objective that i keep close to hand is the nature of my tackle. Obviously a lure that markets itself as being 10X times more tougher and durable than the competition is a piece of terminal tackle that i certainly need in my arsenal. The Z man's come in a range of colours and presentation's however the selection which we find most useful would have to be the 2.5" Grubz and the 3" Shrimpz Range. Below is a quick article which refers to our Land-based Encounters

Zman's Grubz Colour Chart

Zman's Shrimpz Colour Chart

TACKLE

Whilst Soft Plastics have been around for a while now it is a necessity to fish them with quality tackle. This allows you to effectively feel all the way down the line to where the lure is! A Graphite rod of sorts is a must in my eyes as it not only allows you to feel a lot more but it allows you to effectively load up on a fish and set the hook adequately for the duration of the fight. A small to medium sized reel (1000-3000) holds enough line whilst securing enough drag to cater to any species which you may come across in the estuaries. An added benefit would also have to either be braid or straight through fluorocarbon and again it reinforces the quality aspect of feeling pretty much every single tap! The theme being this sections is "Quality", this also stems to your terminal tackle which includes jig head in this instance. Personally the Anglers Edge Crew tend to stick to the TT Jig heads which have proved their worth through countless hours of tackle testing :))

WHITING ARE A COMMON CAPTURE WHILST USING THE ZMAN GRUBZ RANGE

 SPECIES

Every Fisherman's Objective before the start of a Session is to Capture and in some instances release as many fish as possible. Our Land based and Boat encounters have seen us come across a fair few species in the estuaries. We have Capture and Released everything from Salmon to Bream! It is however the thrill that we feel when we prospect a Fishy Looking Spot for the first time. It is effectively the sense of the unknown and the sensation of not knowing what will grab your Lure next :))

PS."WE LOVE BREAMING SO..........MANY OF THE PICS ARE BREAM RELATED"

MOTOR OIL MUST BE MY FAVOURITE COLOUR IN THE RANGE

UPSTREAM TREVALLY _ TOOK A LIKING TO THE COPPER PENNY GRUB

RETRIEVAL

Every single day will hold different opportunities which may need the angler himself to cater to a fishes liking. It may be as simple as changing up your retrieve or even stepping down in a leader size. The two main retrieves which we found most effective would have to be a "quick retrieve with a sudden pause", this seems to excite Flathead mainly but it also has its days on bream. This technique will get the tails on the Grubz really going! The Second retrieve which we look to employ for a Breaming Context would have to be the classic 2 rod twitches and a pause. This allows the plastic to swim off the bottom like a bait-fish and then flutter down eventually resting on the bottom once again. "The Zman Lures also hold their buoyancy fairly well so even when the lures is sitting on the bottom doing nothing the actual tail section of the plastic is fluttering around serving the purpose of an added attractant".  These retrieval methods provide you with a basic overview in regards to getting these lures working to their full potential and effectively catching you more fish !

TIP: "IF U STUDY THE PLASTIC AND WORK OUT WHERE MOST OF THE MOVEMENT COMES FROM, IT WILL PAY DIVIDENDS IN YOUR SUCCESSES"

MOTOR OIL STRIKES AGAIN

EARLY MORNING BREAM-IN

 LOCATION

The Key word which describes our efforts whilst utilizing the Zman Soft Plastics is "PROSPECTING". Walking your local bank or having a flick at a local wharf will allow you to obtain the full potential of these lures. A Great colour Range allows you to mimic every bait-fish under the sun which in tend allows you to target a range of species. We would like to reinforce the fact that these lures can be used by any person at any time. "It is typically a matter of getting out there and having a flick" :))

Prime bream habitat that's littered throughout the Port system.
SOME FISHY LOOKING STRUCTURE - BREAM HAVEN :))

CONCLUSION

As a summarizing statement I would say that these lures are an essential component in everyone's tackle arsenal. If it's fishing from the boat or having a flick from a land-based context it is sure that these lures will cater to your efforts. Subduing everything from the Smallest of Bream to Quality Jew-fish it is a lures which will prove its worth. Soooooo............get out there guys and enjoy the Water! TIGHT LINES GUYS

GLADIATOR BINGO MINI CRANK

GLADIATOR BINGO _ MINI CRANK _ TACKLE REVIEW

"THIS MIGHT TRULY BE THE CUTEST LURE EVER MADE"

INTRO

"Tempting Even The Most Modest Predators"!

The dilemma which encounters many fisherman these days is exciting a predatory fish enough to actually take a swipe at your Lure Presentation. We have all once in a while fished a spot knowing that fish are in the area but unfortunately the inability to present a bait which would either instigate a reaction or territorial bite has resulted in many fish-less sessions. Fortunately the Gladiator Bingo Mini Crank has enabled everyone from the most novice to the most experienced to effectively coax a predatory fish into absolutely annihilating your bait. The Gladiator Bingo Mini Crank looks to represent a vulnerable estuary bait-fish in distress. "Its tight shimmy will get almost any estuary predator in the mood to Strike!" Coming in a selection of 14 Colours and 2 different models the Gladiator Bingo's will practically allow you to fish either deep or shallow water whilst also catering to the most watchful species.

GLADIATOR _ BINGO MINI CRANK _ 14 COLOURS AVAILABLE

TACKLE

Whilst every fisherman will brag about his Fishing Gear and how much of it he has! A Statement which truly cant be refuted is about having enough quality gear. The Gladiator Bingo Mini Crank's come in two separate models which cater to a deep and shallow context. Being such lightly weighted Lures the Bingo Mini Cranks weigh in-between a respective 2.8 g and 2.9 g. This may encourage many fisho's to apply a fairly finesse approach. Either a 1000 or 2500 reel matched up to either a 1-3 kg or 2-4 kg rod. "This will effectively allow you to cater to any situation!" It may also be a good idea to look at some quality braid or straight through fluorocarbon in the 4-6lb range.

STAVRO..........WITH A HEALTHY SYDNEY BREAM _ CHEERINNNNNG..........

SPECIES

Whilst this article is too short to name every species in the Estuary System! These Great little Mini Cranks are sure to account for a fair few of them. During out Tackle Testing efforts we have encountered copious amounts of Bream, Flathead, Whiting, Trevally, Tailor, Salmon and many more. It is important to remember that you effectively needed to match the hatch whilst using these Lures. Simply scout around and have a look if u can spot any bait-fish! "This allows you to make the best Tackle Choice in regards to Colour and Water Depth"

QUALITY SHOT _ "BREAM NAILING IT"

MR BREAM _ WHY U LOOK SURPRISED?

THEY CAN ENTICE QUALITY FLATHEAD AS WELL!

LOCATION

Every Estuary will need a different application of Lures and tackle whilst this may excel one day it may loose its effect the next. This allows the Gladiator Tackle Mini Bingo Crank to cater to a variety of situations. Whilst testing these lures we have fished them everywhere from the flats to hard up against structure. The natural buoyancy of the Cranks allows them to tightly descend into the strike zone whilst floating naturally through the water column on the pause. If the fish are on the Chew or not the Quality Components which these lures are made of allows them to be fished either Slow or Very Fast. The Flats Style Fishing usually encompasses a fairly slow to medium speed retrieve. Alternating Pauses in between the retrieval of the Lure pays dividends in some situations. Whilst Flats Fishing may be fairly similar to Structure Based Fishing it is more so a reaction bite. If you could imagine a fish hard up against snags or mangroves and a small Lure like the Gladiator Bingo Mini Crank landing in the vicinity will almost always trigger a reaction bite. Even though this article only refers to two Contexts it is up to you guys as fisho's to effectively get out there and try these lures in a range of situations and locations. "Everyday is a Learning Experience"

SOME FISHY LOOKING STRUCTURE _ BINGO MINI CRANK HEAVEN ;)

CONCLUSION

The results speak for themselves! Not only are you getting a great product from gladiator Fishing Tackle but your are effectively purchasing your new favourite piece of terminal tackle. The Gladiator Bingo Mini Crank is sure to be a hit on the Bream Scene with an unmatched representation on the current market. I'll finish this article by saying "The Bingo Mini Crank would have to be one of the cutest Lures going around so why wouldn't a estuary based Predator absolutely SMASH IT!"

GLADIATOR SHIVER VIBES

GLADIATOR SHIVER VIBES _ TACKLE REVIEW

 INTRO

"Good Products Simply Reap the Rewards"!

When you fish the estuaries it is always a good idea to have a selection of lures which practically cover you for copious species. One such lure which enables you to fish shallow or deep is the Shiver Vibe from Gladiator Fishing Tackle. These Lures come in variety of colours which enable you to fish pretty much any situation which you may come across. "Simply, they are Lures made and designed by experienced Fishermen!". This article will effectively take you through a session which we had recently with the Shiver Vibes and the overwhelming success which we encountered whilst using these lures :))
GLADIATOR _ SHIVER VIBES _ 16 COLORS AVAILABLE

ON THE WATER _ TACKLE TESTING

LOCATION

Pretty much you know a Lure is worth its value when you can fish it in an array of situations! When we look for Locations in regards to fishing the Shiver Vibes we tend to Look at 2 specifics. "Water Depth and Structure!" These two ideals allow you to cater for pretty much any species which may come along. Water Depth will allow you to caliber your tackle but you normally want a depth from anywhere of  2 - 10 meters, some instances maybe even less and maybe even more. However Structure allows you to locate most of your fish. "Where there is structure there is fish" Everything from Rock Walls to Flats can be covered using the Shiver Vibes :))

"FISHY LOOKING ROCK WALL"

ACTION

The Gladiator Shiver Vibes cater to both the specs found on a hard-body and a metal vibe. Whilst consisting of a overall hard body they effectively sink to the bottom. Once the Lure has been cast into the designated spot it is a matter of waiting for the Lure to Sink and then you start working it. "Small Hops and Pauses" allows you to mimic a fleeing bait fish. the Overall vibration produced through the Hops resembles a distressed form which in fact initiates a strike from a predatory fish. Whilst you may use a more aggressive approach with wilder Hops and Longer Pauses! The Specific Day which you find yourself on the water will allow you to change up your retrieve.

"BIG BREAM CANDY"

THE BITE

When you have placed an adequate cast and effectively gained the interest of a nearby predatory fish. The Bite can be anything from the most subtlest to the most aggressive thing you have ever felt. "Our day on the water had us holding on to our rods with both hands in some instances" It is always a very good idea to allow the fish to play or chew on the lure. As it may be a comfort factor which the fish may need to gain in order to grab and run with the Shiver Vibe! The simplest way which may describe the feeling of the bite is the sensation wen you feel like you've hooked the bottom but the bottom is fortunately moving in an erratic fashion :))

Below is a Selection of Fish Which we managed to Slay on our Day on the Water! The Shiver Vibes are definitely a lure which every individual needs to get their hands on. From the most novice, to the most experienced it is a Lures which will effectively produce fish! Check out the Gladiator Shiver Vibes at http://www.gladiatortackle.com.au/products.php?id=722
